Santander UK has witnessed its profits increase by 10% in the first six months of 2010 to £875m.
Its gross mortgage lending has gone up by 14% on the same period in 2009 ast year to £12.3bn.

It has just announced the company is going to create over 600 jobs in its British branches and call centres in the next few few months for further growth and improved customer service.
Santander UK's strong performance is marked contrast to the Santander Group, which witnessed its half-year profits drop 1.6% to €4.445bn.
During the first six months of 2010, Santander UK upped its lending to small and medium-sized businesses by 20%.
Capital repayments were around £9bn and net mortgage lending was £3.3bn.
The mortgage lender's level of repossession dropped slightly on H1 2009 to be 0.06% of Santander UK's overall portfolio.
