There are expected to be fewer repossessions in Scotland than anticipated, according to a leading property expert.
In 2010, there are likely to be fewer repossessions in Scotland than in other parts of the UK.
The claim was made alongside news that 9,400 homes were repossessed across the UK during the second quarter of 2010, 400 fewer than the previous quarter.
The Council of Mortgage Lenders stated that there are likely to be fewer respossessions north of the Border as people had tended to borrow less against their incomes than across other parts of the UK.
In spite of there not being "major differences" with the remainder of the UK, repossession rates for Scotland are likely to be lower this in 2010.
Lower house prices in Scotland has meant that individuals have smaller mortgages and are in less likely to default on mortgage payments.
