A two-year stamp duty exemption on homes under £250,000 has been introduced in the 2010 Budget.
In spite of drops in house prices and repossessions, we still would appear to consider our homes to be our castles.
Alistair Darling clearly recognises this has declared a two-year stamp duty exemption for first time buyers buying a home costing less than £250,000.
This ensures savings of £2,500. Although this may not sound like a lot, every penny counts as a first time buyer . It can make a difference as to where and what you buy as well as whether or not you can afford all the furniture you need.
Even though there was some scepticism regarding value of stamp duty holidays the last time round when it aided those individuals who bought property worth up to £175,000, it helped 260,000 homebuyers.
Darling has gone on record to say that this latest stamp duty exemption supports the entire housing market at a critical time.
