The number of home repossessions carried out in the UK could be set to rise before Christmas, new research has suggested.
According to a study by Shelter, around 630 people a day may receive notification that their home ownership is under threat.
Individuals facing repossessions have been included in this approximate, as well as those who could be forced out of their dwelling due to landlords selling property, takeovers by squatters and poor housing conditions.
It means 35,000 people across the UK could lose their accommodation before the end of the festive period - and the report has been released to coincide with a new advertising campaign by Shelter claiming a person could be forced out of their home every two minutes.
Campbell Robb, chief executive of the charity - which was founded in England in 1966 by the Reverend Bruce Kenrick, followed by the establishment of the organisation in Scotland two years later - said: "We need everyone’s support in the coming months, so we can help all those people who face the possibility of losing their home to make sure it doesn’t happen."
