An increase in the number of people struggling with mortgage debt in the UK has been witnessed by registered charity the Citizen's Advice Bureau.
The group revealed it has seen a 64 per cent increase in the amount of cases relating to these types of arrears in the last 12 months alone.
And one man finding it difficult to pay off his home loan has told the BBC his property is now at significant risk of repossession.
The borrower explained he was unable to meet the payments on these deals after the break-up of his marriage and the onset of mental health problems.
With other debts of around £1,500 to £1,600 - on top of the £1,400 in arrears regarding his mortgage - the male claimed it is now virtually impossible to pay back what he owes.
"Around about April the repossession order was in the courts. Just last week I got another phone call saying that the house will be repossessed within three or four weeks," he added.
