An increase in received inheritance could ease repossession fears among people worried about their financial position in the future.
New findings from HSBC have shown inheriting wealth is set to peak in 2047, when around £1.1 trillion is to be left to beneficiaries.
The organisation noted this amount is markedly higher than the £194 billion projected for 2015.
Such cash injections could prove of comfort to those currently making their way up the property ladder who are fearful that economic instability down the line may lead to an upturn in repossession numbers.
David Wells, head of investments, pensions and savings at HSBC - which is headquartered in London but has an international network of 7,500 offices around the world - said the findings underline the "importance of financial planning, both for those who plan to bequeath an inheritance and for those who are likely to be in receipt of one".
