There is currently a high demand for repossession bailiffs due to an apparent rise in the number of people squatting in properties in the UK.
And one couple affected by these house invaders have been told the numbers are so high that they may have to wait up to five weeks before they can take their dwelling back, Waltham Forest News reports.
Dave and Janice Mason were granted a repossession notice after winning an order to evict unwelcome guests from their abode in Walthamstow - which is home to about 80,000 people - but were informed such action will be delayed until more bailiffs are available to carry out the task.
The couple had been looking to sell the property when a neighbour informed them squatters had taken up residence in the living space.
Mrs Mason said it is a relief to have been granted the notice, but stated: "I still had to pay their bills while they were in there, and I want to make sure the house is in a good state before the new owners move in."
